This isn't looking for advice or anything like that, just venting about the absolutely MADDENING experience of making anything and then having the zippers/buttons/snaps/etc. take nearly as long to finish as everything else. Maybe this is just a weak point for me personally but BOY!!!! I dread it every time
(brought to you by--just struggled for two hours to figure out the best way to close a circle skirt with a zipper and hook-and-eye closures)
IT'S INFURIATING. IT'S JUST!! A ZIPPER!!!! LIKE YOU'VE DONE A MILLION TIMES WHY ARE THEY SO MEAN
aahh, that's so tempting..... but i inevitably sew stuff incorrectly despite ALL my best efforts, and i think I'd just have to redo it anywho ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ’”💔
man you can suggest until the day is long, some shit just *sucks*. i like a lot of the process, but when it comes to the measuring and double-checking and painstakingly laying things out with extreme caution and chess-levels of foresight, i can stay optimistic for about a minute before I just need to white out and come to when the horror is over.XD meanwhile i LOVE trying to think up how to make impossible garments work or mentally taking things apart piece-by-piece to figure out how it's made. everyone has favorites..... and not so favorites ;;
impossible. TERRIBLE. Why!!!!! and i go in with such confidence every time!!
I'm usually making corsets or costumey/cosplay style outfits, so i need the structure of nonstretch most of the time ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
i actually did reinforce the seams, it was just a tricky closure where i wanted the top to be buttoned over the top of the zipper, BUT i also needed the zipper sewn into the top to hide it. so much finagling....
I'll see about closures first later, although admittedly i do NOT have faith in myself to visualize how they lay so far ahead;;; I'm always working off my own patterns so i need to figure out the steps on my own, and i usually fuck something up
i am using BASIC ass methods, it just drives me up the wall how tedious and exacting it is (i also can't stand laying/cutting patterns for the same reason XD)
i haven't tried glue BUT I've been interested in it, mostly because i am terribly cheap and can't justify always buying the tape XD

aahh... thank you ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ i think a lot of it comes to forgetting how irritating they are until I'm doing them, and then i am in the fucking trenches>><< but maybe, maybe if i make more, they'll be more cooperative.....
