Both of these retail around the same price however I find it a lot easier to find a used Presto 2 at a good discount.
To me I like the look and size of the Passport 3.0 significantly more. I also love their built in version of dual feed rather than having to add a stepper foot to the baby lock presto 2. I do not care about embroidering letters.
So all things considered I am likely going with the PFAFF Passport 3.0. Are there any other reasons than those above that differentiate them to you?
Things related to maintenance (would rather be able to do some repairs myself) and reliability (I won't use it to death but I would love for this to be the last machine I buy for a long while) would be very useful.
For example on the Passport 3.0 I have heard complaints about some issue where the bobbin goes off the rail and something jams some case. Not sure if that is a user error, maintenance error, or a fundamental flaw of the machine.
Budget: Was 300 but the features of these (specifically dual feed and things that feel like they make threading the bobbin and needle easier) upsold me.
Use Cases: Sewing different kinds of fabric together, modifying velvet blackout curtains, light upholstery, occasionally fixing holes in denim jeans, tailoring clothes.
And a curveball: should I just get the Janome HD 3000 since it is much more reliable than them both?
