Hello! I’ve been toying around with the idea of wanting to see a dress/costume that will give the appearance of a jellyfish for Halloween - but I’d also love for it to be rewearable as a normal dress too. I’ve sewn two full dresses before as well as a purse and lots of alterations. Usually I see with cotton or linen fabrics but I’ve dealt with mesh and corduroy and denim as well so I’m not afraid of trying new fabric types. I prefer free handing patterns to using pre made ones honestly.
My main question really is what kind of fabrics do you think would be best for this kind of dress? I was thinking maybe some kind of organza or tulle for a mid thigh length dress with a cotton lining? Any advice or tips/tricks on what style of dress I should try to replicate for the ‘jellyfish’ look? Lots of ruffles/puff sleeve/long and flowy?
Also if you have any tips on working with different kinds of fabrics I would love to hear those as well; as well as how many yards I may need for that kind of fabric!
