Is this correct word usage?

So the word I’m wanting to use is extrapolate. I’m getting mixed things on it with just google search.

The sentence I’m trying to use it for is “but to extrapolate on what I said”
What I said before was “are you implying something” and the person wanted a more defined question.

So am I using the word right? I think of the words conclude and Infer which are strong synonyms and 1 definition I saw online was saying “to extrapolate is to infer something not explicitly stated from existing information” So that fits the criteria right?
