I do not want to make light of other people's need of a service dog.
I am a migraine sufferer that for the past few years has been able to control my migraines by avoiding my triggers. After getting covid I have more frequent migraines. That leave me light sensitive and sometimes unable to drive.
I have a dog that already goes around the house and tries to help me complete tasks. I do not feel I have the need to take him into public situations.
I have read that dogs maybe able to smell migraines before they come on how hard would it be to train a dog to respond to smells. How do I go about starting this.
My hope is that he might be able to pick up and let me know that I'm about to have one before I go to work so that I can decide if I need to call in a sick day.
Update: Thank you for all of the fantastic advice. Hopefully my next migraine I'm able to follow through with some of it. I had a major migraine that forced me to sleep through the pain. Before the pain started to get bad my dog sat at the other end of the couch and barked at me three times then quietly set next to me while the pain slowly increased. This is not his normal behavior. He's normally very active jumping in my lap and licking my arm. This was the first migraine I've had since he's been with me.
