I work for one of the warehouse stores, it is my job to ask people for their membership cards etc... One of the things I have to do is when people are entering with a dog I have to ask if it’s a SD.. Now the ADA says that you are allowed to ask only 2 questions.. 1 “is this a service dog ? “ .. 2 “ what service does this dog provide?”.. part of my frustration is the corporation I work for only allows us to ask if it’s a SD.. that’s it.. So when the person comes in with their little toy dog and I ask if it’s a service dog ( and I know it’s not) and they say it is a service dog then my hands are tied... I can safely say that 99% of the dogs that come in are not SD.. I am a big advocate for SD, but I think that there needs to be some changes... I think it should be like using a handicapped parking... To get a handicap parking permit you need a doctors note and the proper paperwork and you were issued the permit to use the handicapped parking... I think that the same should apply for SD owners.. they should need to get the proper paperwork filled out by a doctor saying they need a SD and then they can be issued a permit/card that allows them to have their SD in the building they are in.. If the person has not gotten the proper permit/card then the dog can’t come in..
