Should I stop seroquel if I have a family history of diabetes?

Post Body

I have been taking 25mg generic seroquel for the past 5 months or so. I am diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type.

Recently while talking with a coworker I mentioned that I am on seroquel. He mentioned that he had heard of it increasing the likelihood of developing diabetes. After a google search I found some articles about patients on seroquel having much higher odds of getting diabetes.

This is concerning for me because I am already at an increased risk of diabetes. Both my biological father and paternal grandmother were diabetic.

Should I talk to my psychiatrist and ask to switch to a different medication?
