Obviously, Jay was Urick's star witness in a high-profile murder investigation. Why is it so wrong for Urick to go out of his way to assign good counsel to Jay so that Jay remains happy and testifies against Adnan, and there can be no later questions about the quality of counsel assigned to him? Seems like something any of us would do.
I can see this being problematic if Benaroya's allegiance was to Urick and not Jay. But we have no evidence that that was the case. Jay ended up serving no jail time at all for a charge of accessory after the fact to murder. I'd say Benaroya did as well as anyone could expect.
Undisclosed's constant harping on this issue and calling it troubling, shady, highly unusual, etc., without ever explaining why it is any of those things is annoying.
