question about Best Buy as a location

This is going back an episode or 2, but I am confused about something. Jay's side of the story is that Adnan asked Hae for a ride after school, and would then call Jay, but that Adnan would not know from where he would call Jay, hence Jay needing to receive the call from Best Buy. But I don't get the "Adnan wouldn't know where Hae was going" part...Hae had to pick up her cousin first, right? And is Jay's story that Adnan was asking Hae for a ride home? So how and why would they have ended up in the BB lot, especially if Hae was in a hurry to get her cousin?
