...to be a caretaker for an older cat.
I had my 17-year-old calico, Munch, euthanized last September after a valiant battle against kidney failure. We nursed her and kept her feeling pretty good for 1.5 years. During that entire time, my heart was heavy because I knew the time would come to say goodbye. Yet at other times, I felt so enormously privileged to be able to nurse a creature who had given me years of joy an love and then be with her to usher her out of this life with peace and dignity.
Well, gosh. Now I'm crying again. I thought I was over it.
