Do Sales Pick Up or Slow Down After Publishing?

Hey guys,
I am publishing my first book on Amazon. So far it has 50 preorders with 3 weeks to go to release. Obviously not amazing, but it's something! My question is:
Does your book typically get pushed more and, thus, get more sales on release? Or do sales taper off?
