I am struggling with loving myself at rock bottom. I get stuck in the āIāll feel good about myself once X changesā mentality. Once my apartment is put together, once I have the clothes I want, once I start making money again; once Iām respected by my peers, once Iām fitter, once I get the recognition externally, etc.
I want to find a way to love myself internally no matter what my external circumstances are. I want to have a grounded, unshakeable sense of self and acceptance even when I donāt see my ātrue potentialā manifested externally yet.
Something that has really helped me is moving from a Have/Do/Be mentality to a Be/Do/Have mentality.
So instead of, for my personal example, "once I have time, I'll work out more, then I'll be confident", I shifted my mindset. I put the "be" first, I acted the way I dreamed of acting. "I'll be confident and love my body, and that self love will support me to do more working out, and putting myself first means I'll have more time to focus on me."
Its kind of a fake it till you make it type deal, but it's just helpful to remind yourself to just start acting like the person you want to be. Don't do xyz in order to love yourselfālove yourself so much that you're doing xyz because it makes you feel good.
Sending hugs OP! Good luck š
