Staying calm=win?

What are your thoughts on the one that stays calm “wins” (for lack of a better word) the argument? I have a really hard time when I feel hurt unjustly by my partner. Staying calm feels like I am passively taking or accepting his bad behavior/rude words etc. I’m curious to hear your experience on this and how I can adjust my thinking so I feel like I’m honoring myself in these situations
