Back story is I have an older arcade machine that requires access to a no longer existent update server, the machine seeks out a specific domain name. Managed to get most everything set up through acquaintances of acquaintances. The last step in getting my game updated is faking the domain and pointing it to my server's IP.
Everyone who has it working suggested to me I use my router to redirect the domain, but it doesn't have the feature. Neither does my gateway. I downloaded Simple DNS Plus, and have my router using that for a DNS server. So far so good.
The options in Simple DNS Plus are so vast though. I've tried a handful of what seemed like sensible methods for getting it to forward to the right IP but still no luck. What is the right method for going about this?
I Essentially need to tell the game that when it boots and pings the Simple DNS Plus DNS for gameupdateserver.Com to go to my server's IP instead of the actual server for the same domain.
I'm also moderately sure it needs to have a secure connection, if that makes a difference in settings?
Can anyone assist?
