Reverse Proxy Security Question

Post Body
So I'm trying to limit the ports I open on my router. I need to leave 443 open so others can access 1 or 2 of my services, but I dont want to expose every web service I'm running to the internet. Every web service runs as a docker container and sits behind a reverse proxy.
My idea is to add public services to my DNS registrar as a subdomain. Internal services will stay on my local router's DNS table. This relies on my Nginx reverse proxy to prevent access. Is this a good idea?
