I have some PTSD relating to traumatic work experiences in the past, I’m now in a high level corporate position that I feel I am insanely unqualified for but somehow scored the job anyway. My assistant is there due to nepotism (her mother is my district manager’s best friend and a manager at another location in the same company). She doesn’t like me, and has consistently complained about me (she wants my job but is a decade younger and doesn’t have a degree). Anyway, we’ve had to do self evaluations and next week I go in to discuss said evaluations with my boss, and receive “coaching”. In my experience, this is usually the “documentation” step that comes before the process of letting someone go. However, that may not be the case. I am in desperate need of some advice on how to navigate that situation and keep from spiraling into a panic attack in the middle of the meeting, as they don’t know about the ptsd and this is a normal annual process for them. How do I do this without looking insane?
