I love hogties. So I did one tonight in my basement. I love being on the cold concrete topless, in just normal cotton panties like a damsel in distress.
I typically use cuffs, not ropes, since I find them a bit safer for selfbondage. I usually use a timed lock connected to a home-made ice lock (a block of ice with a small rope to form a loop where I can connect things).
Last night, while I was setting up and doing a couple trial runs, the timed lock failed. It is now locked and stuck on 1 minute 35 seconds. I knew this was a possibility, which is the reason for the ice lock.
But by the time I got everything figured out, the ice was melted (i did a pretty good trial run with it though).
So it got me thinking. What is a safe, sane way to do a good hog tie/hog cuff without much risk, but which is secure?
I have some ideas, and did one last night, but I'd like to know your thoughts.

I've thought of that too. It may be my next thing.
Love that. I am also too cheap to break anything. So do use the rope on your hands or to connect things? How do you combine the rope and the key locks?
I struggle because I want the session to last until it ends. If I put in 10 minutes, I don't want an option to get out early, except something drastic - like calling the fire department or risking exposure to someone I know.
It's also hard to do rope correctly. it's either too stretchy and not restrictive enough or it's too easy to get out of or it's so restrictive it risks circulation issues.
I have, but not recently. I have even done things like a collar locked on so I had to go someplace to get the key after everything else was off. I did a dangerously short skirt without panties locked to a crotch chain once, where the key was in the mail box. I did one once where I had to crawl down steps in my house to get the key to let me stand up to get another key on a shelf.
But it's been a while.
I've been looking at those. I use a loop of rope in an ice block and it's very effective.
But I struggle with the timing. The thing about the ice locks from etsy is that it seems like you have no control over duration. It's kind of hot to think that. But it's also bothersome. Sometimes I want a very long duration -- hours. Other times I won't be able to hold the position for more than 5 minutes. And those locks seem like they can't do that.
What's your experience with that? Do you always lock for about the same time? Or have you found some way to extend past what you normally do?

yes. They can be wonderful, but can fail, which is why I use 2 or 3 release methods. My problem is that I really like being helpless. So I have to balance the need to get out (even in an emergency) with the need to be unable to.
