Just wanted to laugh a little about my kid. I recently salvaged an old laptop and set it up with LUbuntu (a minimal Linux OS), some Linux games and an NES emulator with Super Mario Bros. and Tetris for the kids (we don't have any consoles at home). Our 6 year old son particularly loves Mario and plays it whenever he gets a chance. The other day I was watching him play and saw him wait too long to jump off of a particular elevator on World 1-2. Initially he was confused, but he found the warp pipes and got all excited when I explained to him what they do. Just this morning he passed the Hammer Brothers.
I guess I find it interesting because when I was a kid, NES secrets were things that were passed down in class. I never realized that a decent player should be able to find them on their own.
