I wanted somewhere I could talk about this, so I figured this might be the right place.
I want to be someone who isn't on their phone all the time. I've recently come to realize that I use my phone way too much, and I hate how dependent on social media I am for dopamine (I have ADHD which makes it extra difficult.) It's such a waste of time, and I am done with it all. In the last 2 weeks or so, I've gone through all the apps on my phone and deleted most of them. I deleted all my social media apps except for 2, which I've set timers on for 30 minutes each. Usually I don't reach the time limit throughout the day.
I have, however, kept a "productivity" folder, which has stuff like language learning apps, TedTalk app, news, etc. so that if I am bored and can't do anything else (ex: on the bus) I can at least learn something.
I no longer feel the need to carry my phone around the entire house with me, and I am starting to pull it out less while taking the bus/being a passenger. I've even taken it out of the case to discourage me from taking it out unless I need to. It seems to be working so far!
The reason I am doing this is that I want to spend more time focusing on learning, studying, practising my instruments, exercise, and some other stuff. I'm in university for music, so studying and practising are huge ones for me. Once the semester is over, I am hoping to get back into my independent studying since I can't right now with everything going on at school(I enjoy studying/reading about philosophy, learning languages, self-help/success books, etc.)
This is something I want to work on throughout my twenties (I turn 20 this year.) I want to be a well-educated adult, and feel personally fulfilled/successful. These are my first steps towards that goal!
