I was diagnosed with selective mutism when I was younger. All my life, I cannot call people by their name. I can say their name when I am talking about them to another person, but they must not be present. I do remember their names. There has been people who called me by my name hundreds of times and I never called them by their name once. Someone even asked me, "Do you even know my name?" I don't know why. It feels too intimate and uncomfortable. It feels forced. I feel weird saying their name. Does anyone else relate?
