As the title says, I'm at a total loss. I 24m have been working at this security franchise for almost 2 years (company name kept out for privacy). I've been with this franchise since they opened. During my time with the company, I've gone months without days off and with very little to no sleep for several days when we first started. After a while of getting to this point my new boss who's the son states he wants me to do more so he put me on salary with a contract and I've been under said contract for about 3 months now. Before this, my schedule consists of daily waking up or getting off a night shift followed by going through about 150 reports from the day before that get split between 3 of us other guys. All reports have to be reviewed and corrected before 9 am. Now I have to ensure at all gaurds clock into their shifts that all have different clock in times starting at 7a, 12p, 3p, 8p, 9p, and 2a with being on call during the day for guards who have questions or if someone calls out. If a call or shift gets missed cause I'm trying to get my personal life taken care of I get yelled at for not doing my job properly and get reminded how I'm on salary and getting paid extremely well (pay is 35k base or 40k a year if all incentives are met). I'm expected to randomly work all different sites with my schedule changing consistently. There have been several days where I've worked a 7a-1p shift then had to drive to another site for a 3p-11p shift with no opportunity to get home to relax in-between.
As of lately, my work to life balance has my girlfriend worried for me because she sees I'm not doing well. I'm not doing well mentally as I've been having family issues the past few months. And now we're caught up to recent events. Lately, my grandpa has been expected by the hospital not to make it through the next week. I informed my boss' son about this, and he said that it was rough but that he still needed me to work my shifts that I had scheduled. I told him that's not an issue. Rewind to yesterday when my body camera malfunctioned and he brought me a new one and I informed him that I was officially putting notice in that I needed to step down from my position and work less hours cause I'm expected to help take care of my grandma who will need assistance while all other family members live out of state but are in town visiting. This was something agreed to as a family whole. The boss' son then tells me that I can keep doing what I'm doing currently and still be able to help 'visit' my grandma. I then informed him that it's not visiting her it's taking care as I would have to be taking her to appointments and all and he then said that I could "put you head to the grind wheel and work it out" and then left the site. I was struck flabbergasted as he has stated before in the past that family always comes first for him and his family and that they would support us as well. Meanwhile, my director and I have been picking up more and more of his slack with my director picking up most of it because he wants to spend more time working on his hobbies and traveling for vacation.
He's even gone so far to take low blows at my director who's going through a divorce with a child, all because a shift had been missed because we both had things that were needing to be dealt with and were away from the system to access the clock in statuses. All of this as of lately has put a bad taste in my mouth. I know that his future plans for ne are to move to another town and start another section of the franchise.
For those asking where's the franchise owner in all of this hes been spending most of his time bouncing between 2 cities that he opened and his helping them function while the son neglects the base office location that I work at and another that had a guard from our location move out to and start and that ones been neglected with the one running it now wanting to leave as well. My director has already put a month notice in as well.
I'm not sure what to do at this point and have been looking for a different career field that can accommodate me and my limitations from injuries sustained from service
Edit added some spacing and fixed grammer for better reading
