Perhaps an odd request, but my area is getting absolutely slammed by a drug wave to the point that it's become a virtually guaranteed daily occurrance to find users lighting up in our restrooms and transit areas.
My problem is I'd just like to be able to name the thing instead of just calling it "drugs".
As far as I know, it's a substance commonly smoked in a pipe or burnt in tinfoil. It produces a very tart chemical smell that can rapidly fill a large room, but it dissipates quickly. It is several times more common to smell this drug in the areas described above than weed or tobacco combined.
I've heard many suggestions as to what it could be from heroine to fentanyl, but the drug I've heard referred to most in recent memory is percocet. We've caught people who've admitted to "smoking percs", but I don't know if percocet matches the description.
I know it's not a great description and it's certainly not your jobs to know this stuff, but proximity to information often informs. Please let me know if this sounds like an isolated phenomenon or if you're experiencing something similar.
UPDATE 1: I do not believe it is PCP (permanent marker smell).
