What's the point of paying union dues if the union won't fight to give us affordable healthcare?

Post Body

I live in a non-right to work state so I am required to pay union dues. Healthcare through my employer costs $400/month whereas healthcare through the state marketplace is only $205/month which I find absurd considering I pay $90/month in union dues. The healthcare plan estimated price doesn't even meet ACA legal requirements at more than 8.5% of my income.

I tried contacting my union but no one answers the phone, and my supervisor and HR says I am required to still pay dues. The only benefits of the union I was told about was that we get 1 week of vacation a year. All of that for $90/month. At my last non-union security job I got 1 week vacation and paid no union dues whatsoever. I got nearly the same amount of sick leave as well.

Why do people put up with unions that barely do anything for their members?
