So, after some advanced recon I've got more info and a plan for us to discuss!
Dates: April 29-May1
Place: Wanapum State Park Campground: http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Ginkgo Petrified Forest/Wanapum Recreational Area&subject=all
Their reservation system doesn't go live until May 15. I called and talked to the park ranger who said a 10-15 person camping group should be able to be accommodated if someone arrives early friday to claim campsites. There is full bathrooms at this park, and its right on the columbia. The ranger said April is not typically a busy time for the park, especially with 50 sites! He did say the less vehicles we have, the better. Carpooling/gear hauling is something we can work out.
Vantage is in the 70s during the day and 40s at night in April.
Arrival Friday. Check in time is 2:30. Someone should be there by 2:30 to reserve sites once they become available.
Saturday: Trip to Frenchmans Coulee for hiking/bouldering : http://www.uwsp.edu/geo/projects/geoweb/participants/dutch/vtrips/FrenchCoulee.htm
Leave Sunday. Check out time is 1pm. Check out Petrified Forest Center.
Do we want to cook some group meals? Treats made beforehand? Maybe we should have a face to face planning meeting. ;)
