SeaDoo Spark - lost all thrust and whining noise

Hey all,
I recently picked up a 2015 SeaDoo Spark... it’s motor seems to run perfectly fine and revs up easily.
It ran fine for a few minutes but then it suddenly lost almost all of its thrust, there was a whine noise coming from the impeller area and some smoke or steam out the back.
It almost seems like something is slipping... I already checked the wear ring and impeller, but I guess that could be the problem or not?
Any ideas?
