For anyone thinking this is hyperbole, remember, Republicans refused Obama’s SCOTUS nomination under the bullshit argument of “it’s an election year, voters should decide,” and then seated their own justice, a month or so before the election.

“Rules for thee, but not for me.” describes Republicans in a nutshell. They’re lying, conniving, manipulative scumbags. They keep this country from being great.

Because in that particular situation there was nothing they could do. They didn't have a Senate majority.

You should vote for them so they do have a house and senate majority, and so we don't end up with a wannabe dictator for president.

Or better yet - say ok if you don't want to participate in the process as laid out I will make the appointment myself and you can go fuck yourself

The president does not have the power to do that. SCOTUS appointees are approved by the Senate.

There was nothing they could do. Republicans are shameless, so what were they going to do? Get on TV and let Americans know that they're lying hypocrites?

I generally agree that Democrats are toothless, but there wasn't much they could do.

What would your actual, legal, and within the constitution, solution be? Republicans had a Senate majority and refused to hold a hearing. Democrats can't hold the hearing, and they don't have the numbers to seat him, so now what? Seriously? What's your genius solution that Democrats could have actually employed to get shit done?

This is literally how government was designed to work. Well, I mean, Republicans should have held a hearing, but it wasn't illegal for them not to. Just inappropriate and shitty. Democrats could alter the constitution to make the Senate forced to take up hearings, but they'd need 2/3rds of the Congress to agree to that, and well, that ain't happening.

This is why women have lost rights and the LGBTQ community is once again under a direct assault

No, women have lost rights and the LGBTQ community is once again under assault because in 2016 a ton of morons decided to thumb their nose at Hillary, and ignored the arguments of "But Trump will get to nominate x number of SCOTUS justices... abortion will be at risk, gay marriage will be at risk, etc." Everyone wanted to plug their fingers in their ears and yell "they're the same anyway," or "Hillary's going to win anyway, but I can't' have any part of it."

That's why. That's why those things happened. Both parties might suck, but one sucks much worse than the other, so get out there and vote for Democrats, or don't complain.
