So I tore down the engine of the 125 scooter today to give it new rings, since I put the old ones in after a rebuild without knowing it was an issue. Inevitably, it was bogging and burning plenty of oil as a 4 stroke. Anyway, I noticed the head and piston were not only black and a little sticky, but the exhaust valve was white (stained here by my oily thumbprints). Is it just due to oil burn or is there something else I need to worry about?
Also, the exhaust is sooty, but I wanted to check if this amount is normal or as a result of oil burning. The oxygen sensor is confirmed working (to some extent anyway) but if it needs cleaning I can do that.
