Hey! I just came up with a new device for my story later on.

As you can see from the title, it is a genetic disruptor. It is basically a device that effects people at the genetic level. This is to be used in combat against mutants [vampires and the like]. This completely shuts down their [natural] abilities barring greater strength and speed. Think things like quirks from my hero acedemia or any mutant stories.

Now let's take it a smidge further. My world also has mages with a 'magi gene'. Now, the genetic disruptor essentially just makes this thing weaker. It weakens a mage's power by fifty percent. However that only applies to normal humans. Mutants can only be weakened by 20 percent, in terms of their magi gene.

we will focus on normal humans [those without magic]. To these people, if the genetic disruptor is used on them, with the charge it takes to weaken a mutant, they will suffer genetic damage. This will be so bad that even future medical technique will not be able to repair them quickly.

It does mean something overtly horrible will happen, in the safest case you just get a disability that can't be cured or an illness.

Now finally for the power source. It's basically just radioactive energy, the shit that causes genetic damage when used. However it's put through a process that prepares it for the purposes I listed above. I am not smart enough to elaborate further on that.

Basically that's everything, I hope, I explained this well and would love your input on this.

Also if you have a better name for the device, then please suggest. I like this one, but you cms probably do better. I suck at naming things.

Edit : OK rather it does not effect the genes directly sorry. It just weakens or gets rid of the abilities temporarily. Like effecting the tissue that produces them or allows for their protection. I speak under correction.
