I haven't read many sci-fi books or watched many sci-fi movies so I am very new to even the most basic tropes of the genre.
Yet, I am trying to write and run a ttrpg sci-fi horror adventure and I figured I would ask you guys what are some of the fundamental stuff I need to know about space (as portrayed in fiction at least) to make my adventure feel at least a little plausible.
Anything will do, stuff like "people that go out in space need oxygen in a tank" or "people that come back to the ship will go through some kind of cleaning/purification area" or even "in a vac suit, you'd hardly hear anything than your own breath".
Spaceship layout, equipment, navigation, weaponry, lightning, resources, procedures, material used, and so forth.
Details or generalities, obvious or not, I am really looking for any tip or hint regarding basic space life and adventuring. Many thanks to all who will take the time to comment a few things!
Writing without reading is like nursing without IV practice. Go to Librivox and just listen to random sci-fi audiobooks for a month. Listen to Isaac Arthur's Upward Bound & Future of Warfare series.
