A question about referring to ships as “she”

Post Body
I like to use nautical lingo in my setting, including the tradition of using feminine pronouns for ships. However, I’m worried that overusing it could make my writing harder to understand in places.
So far in my draft I’ve only been calling ships “she” in dialogue, instead using “it” when describing them in narration. Do you think this would help, or am I just making it more confusing?
