Something that a lot of people don’t know is that contraceptives can suppress bleeding. You don’t have to take the sugar pill and can move onto the next month’s supply of oral contraceptive pills. The reason it even mimicked a 28 day cycle was to make it more socially/religiously acceptable.

YMMV but there’s generally not much stopping the average woman to stretch that out to like at least a 45 day cycle (some are luckier and can go months/years). I don’t know why this isn’t the norm and we still push women to deal with this shit monthly when even back in the day that wasn’t normal.
