When media and information progress, society progresses as well. Knowledge drive us; Hence, when it is easier to transfer information from an individual using efficient media, society would be more productive. The internet is a network where people can quickly disseminate information to one another. But when used by people with ill intent, it may spread misinformation. We must be careful in using various media and accessing information on the internet to fully harness its potential and avoid possible harm that comes with it.

CURRENT AND FUTURE TRENDS OF MEDIA AND INFORMATION

Media and information keep progressing to this day, what we had back on the 1900s is already obsolete for todays use. The same might be true for today, what we think is advanced today might be obsolete in the next few years as technological advancement increase in a significant rate. One thing that might be carried over in the future is MOOC or Massive Open Online Course as education will always be a part of human society. MOOCs offer a variety of ways can learn about all sorts of various topics. We have transitioned from only having physical schools to having blended learning and now having fully online courses.

IMPLICATIONS OF MEDIA AND INFORMATION

The implications of media and information are as follows: It improves quality of life; We become more politically engaged, active, smart, and concerned; We become a more responsible citizen; It promotes economic opportunities; It improves the learning environment; And it builds individuals as a more cohesive social units. The advancement of media and information means that other aspects of our life improves as well.

TEXT & VISUAL DIMENSION OF MEDIA AND INFORMATION

There are principles to be followed when creating text and visual elements. These help make the elements more pleasing to the eyes, give highlight to the main point, and just generally better. One must consider what kind of text they are writing as you cannot write informal text for any occation and it would seem weird to get a formal email from a close friend. The font used can also affect how people perceive the text. Bold text can increase the impact while serif text invokes formality. The right kind of visual aid also helps the viewer understand the message that you would want to convey. Videos are great to show action like when you would want to show the procedure on how to do a basketball layup. On the other hand, graphs and charts are generally used to show data and their trends. You must also follow the principles of visual design like center of interest, balance, contrast, rhythm, perspective, etc. As well as the type of shots when taking photos or videos.

AUDIO & MOTION DIMENSION OF MEDIA AND INFORMATION

Audio and motion elements also have their own principles to be followed to ensure an efficient projection of information. There are different audio types namely: music, sound effects, and narration. There are also different audio formats with mp3 being the most popular as it has near perfect quality with a small compressed size and compatibility. Other formats include AAC (Advanced Audio Coding), WMA (Windows Media Audio), WAV (Waveform Audio File), and many others. On to motion media, we have different kinds of camera movements: Dolly is used when the character in frame has a sudden realization, the camera either moves towards or away from the subject; Pedestal is the vertical camera movement without changing its angle; Truck is the horizontal movement typically used when following a moving character with its path; Pan is changing the horizontal angle while tilt is changing the vertical one; Roll is rotating the camera sideways; Zoom is modifying the magnification without moving; And following shot, as its name suggests, follows the subjects actions.

Manipulatives refers to the tools or devices that requires to be interacted with for developmental, educational, information, and other purposes. And multimedia pertains to the integration of multiple types of media. This post is an example of multimedia as it has both text media and visual media.
