Earlier this morning, my dad got a scam call. He was convinced it was me, saying I had gotten in a car accident and injured some woman in a car accident. My dad was convinced, even my brother who knows about these things. The voice was scary enough, but it knew everything about me. It told my dad I had gotten a DUI for some drug that helps you sleep because I work graves (I do work graves) and that I was charged for trying to escape a crime scene because I tried getting my car out of traffic. It knew the time I got off work even. My scammer's voice told my dad a lawyer would call him. Moments later, he gets a call, and they talk about bail.
Long story short, the scammer didn't have all the details. My dad started to catch on, asking for specifics such as location if he could talk to me, what jail I was in, and such. The scammer simply hung up, and my dad knew it was fake, but only after he'd been working with his own lawyer for an hour.
How did the scammer know so much about me? It knew my job, the hours I worked, and who my dad was. I'm certain it's because I live stream on Twitch. I recorded myself drawing and only started doing it 3 days ago. I had spoken about this new job I had gotten, and I have hours and hours of my voice speaking for AI sampling and a few personal details such as social media. I believe they collect it through my VODS because it's untainted by music. It's perfect for a scammer and the only way they could have gotten this specific data.
Twitch is the perfect hunting grown for these scammers, they'll listen to you, and they'll have your voice. They'll follow your string of links and find your family to scam. If you or anyone you know becomes a victim to this, ask question they cant answer. My scammer voice was me in a panicked state. Kinda felt insulted it was believed cuz I cant remember the last time I was panicked, even when I got in a serious car accident.
