Malian Kit

So I have a new fighter coming out who wants to look into a Malian kit for hardsuit. I can find plenty of quick bits on Mansa Musa but not much on how their warriors were equipped. For a European culture, I would look to funeral effigies but I know that can be difficult for Muslim peoples. I have found some art but a lot of it is clearly European and either propaganda-style or horribly racist. Neither option is very helpful. Any one done some prior work here or have any good directions we can look?
