Interested in SCA but not sure if I'm right for it.
Post Body

Good evening all,

A friend and I are strongly considering joining our local barony. I understand this can be quite the expensive hobby and I am limited in funds and space to begin acquiring any of the crafting equipment or skills regardless of however interested I am in it. I am however more than willing to dig into research or the history of things. I understand the crafting and combat is a large part of the SCA but I have been growing concerned we may not fit in if we aren't able to do the crafting or fighting.

I have also read comments elsewhere about store bought costumes or an elitism/clique culture sometimes against some they may be starting out or don't have the funds or time to craft some of the beautiful costumes worn.

Basically, I guess I'm asking how are people viewed if they can't go all in on the SCA but enjoy the history?

Thanks for your time and comments.
