Food Poisoning
Post Body

Just returned from a wedding in Sayulita. It was beautiful and an amazing little beach town, but 4 of my group of 12 ended up with varying degrees of food poisoning. The villa we stayed at had filtered water for evening including showers and we were fine while we stayed there, but after going into town we had problems. Not sure what my brothers in law had, but both my boyfriend and I got sick the only day we went into town. The only possibly culprits we could think of were the ceviche( which others in our group had the day before and were fine) or the ice in our margaritas (same for the rest of our group) so we can’t be sure. I was sick within hours and thankfully through the worst of it by the morning ~12 hours later. My boyfriend didn’t get sick until I was feeling better (thankfully?) but was really sick for ~48 hours including the two flights home. Poor thing puked the whole time, couldn’t keep any liquid down, and was so weak we had to get him a wheel chair to get him to and from the flights and around the airport. We are finally home and starting to feel better. I wish I knew what caused it so I could help others avoid what we had to go through. After reading about the sanitation issues in Sayulita I wanted to share our experience. We had to go because it was his brothers wedding, and other than this it a was an amazing trip. Just be careful, safe travels, and I hope you have a great time in an otherwise beautiful place!
