Do wider tip openings make those big old school vibratos easier?

I just got myself a number 5 Morgan soprano mouthpiece and in general, I've been loving it so far. Now there's one thing I worry about, my tone concept is Bechet esk, not an exact copy, but I love those antiquated sounding wide vibrato sounds. The way I've been doing it, right or not I'm not sure, is to tighten and loosen my embouchure especially pushing my bottom lip up and with a smaller mp, I feel like that movement is a bit more limited. Is my technique wrong from the beginning. Maybe those movements actually have to come from the jaw? The number 5 is 0.60 wide and I'm considering ordering their 6 to compare.
