Do gold lacquer and gold plated saxes look different?

Maybe a stupid question, but. Blind guy here and I'm just wondering. Do they look different at all? A lot of vintage saxes either come in gold or silver plate and gold tends to be more expensive, but if they do look the same as lacquer, then a silver plated horn would actually stand out more against typical modern gold lacquer saxophones, making the gold plated one a little pointless.
