Fun stuff starts at around 0.22.
I just came across this on Youtube and thought it'd be fun to share to the sub. This particular form of country music is called Molum and it has roots in Northeastern Thailand all the way up into Laos. Traditional Molum is generally slower and unamplified, but with modern instrumentation. We got something like this. About 40 years ago some dude also thought adding saxophone to a Molum ensemble would sounded great and I'd have to agree.
Some interesting things I would note is that this has some similarities to blues, EG repeated pentatonic licks, but with a different accent, also the band staying on one chord for a prolonged amount of time. The singer is also improvising in a half talking way a lot of the time. Lastly that string instrument soloing is called the Pin, a traditional Northeastern and Laosian instrument, in this case, amplified.
