Resigning with a save from online?

Hi all, quick question. If you resign your save with a save that you get from online (or anyone else's save, friend, etc), then upload it back to your ps4 and overwrite, then you're practically now using their save correct? I'm thinking about doing it with Xenoverse 2 but I don't want my custom character to go away in place of someone else's, so just checking if I'm thinking about this the right way
