How would adding WW1 firearms to a fantasy world change game balance?

I'm making a new campaign setting and I like the idea of adding in certain firearms from the WW1 era. It would be limited to one country's military, but since they have AP I'm worried how my players that live in a fantasy world would deal with the incredible range and AP of those weapons. They'll have access to magic and the normal fantasy stuff. Heck, they may even have guns themselves at some point. I was just wondering if anyone here had experience with it and could tell me ways to improve the idea or streamline it into a traditional fantasy game.
