Someone pointed out the Cross of St. Peter (again) which got me musing on the subject.
Symbols only have meaning if you give it to them and the good thing about not believing in sacred or powerful scrawls means we can appropriate them for our nefarious ends.
Yes the inverted cross was said to represent Peter not thinking he's worthy of being crucified the same way as Jesus. It's also a pretty cool symbol, especially if you like Black Metal.
The Sigil of Baphomet uses an inverted pentagram, historically used to represent the five wounds of Christ or the five elements of life.
It also has Leviathan written in Hebrew in it and the symbol for Leviathan is the Alchemical symbol for brimstone.
Hell, a rainbow is light reflecting/refracting on raindrops but the LGBTQ community use it to represent the spectrum of sexual orientations.
My point is, most symbols can have multiple meanings or mean nothing at all, we know and we don't care, if you like a symbol then use it.
And spare a thought for the poor souls who want to use the Swastika for it's original meaning.
Thanks to u/MikiiPewds for the inspo. 🤘
