Any avid gardeners willing to help me out?
Post Body

My yard has very little in terms of foliage and I’m looking to change that.

I have a few challenge to overcome in order to fulfill my mission - namely the fact that I’m a serial plant killer, and I’m annoyingly indecisive.

I’ve tried to research my options but I’m getting a bit overwhelmed/frustrated. I’ll find a plant that I think is a good fit, and then find out it’s toxic to dogs or something (I’m looking at you Hostas and citronella.)

If someone with a prexsisting knowledge of plants would just tell me what to get, that would be incredibly helpful.

Things I need from selected plants:

  • Safe for pets.
  • Perennial.
  • Does well in partial-shade (south facing yard, but wanting to fill in the area under some trees.)
  • Is hardy and self sufficient.
  • But not so hardy and self sufficient that it takes over my entire yard.
  • Budget-conscious.

Things I would like from selected plants:

  • Plants native to the area. I’d like the area to look as natural as possible.
  • In terms of looks I like foliage that make me think of Jurassic park. Like ferns.
  • Not all of the plants need to be from here, but I’d like to support this organization and order at least a couple plants from them. I’m thinking Lamium might be a good fit? www.farminthedell.com/greenhouse

Thanks for your help and suggestions!
