Hey, it's me, the 30-something female power wheelchair user looking for cool socialization opportunities, either to bring friends or make new friends. I will be moving to Saskatoon soon with my Mom from up north. I'm looking to start socializing more in person again since high school lol.
I'm not much of a dancer ;)
Restaurants and pubs would be cool, so long as they have barrier free access, and not too loud of music (I tend to be fairly soft spoken which is a shame... It makes me seem like a wallflower, which I am most definitely not). Parking/loading access for me to be picked up and dropped off from a side entry wheelchair accessible vehicle.
For restaurants and pubs, also consider services such as assistance pouring beverages. Small (6 to 8 Oz.) take out style or lightweight cups available to pour drinks into would be ideal. I'm not a fan of straws, and I don't need a lid.
Hopefully I get suggestions for places that people my age frequent... I'm not a reckless young person and I'm far from an old lady.
Drinks - I personally might prefer one or two light alcoholic drinks, but I may more often prefer non-alcoholic options. My guests may prefer alcoholic ones.
Friendly staff would be awesome too. I'd definitely be a good tipper if I needed assistance with certain foods to be cut smaller (not everything though). This might be a tall ask...
I'm interested in gaming, definitely. I've been to Bartari a few years back. Very cool but I found it to be quite crowded for my chair and I recall the front entrance having a fairly big bump threshold that I needed a little boost to clear. I thought I read they were planning on opening a second location, more focused on adult patrons?
Board gaming once I am acquainted with regulars would be cool to get into. I heard Dragons Den? often recommended but unsure about their accessibility or how absolute noobs with boardgames are perceived lol.
Even just someplace chill that I might be found relaxing at for a few hours, or typing something up on a laptop until someone decides to make conversation. I'm currently studying my Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in inclusive education online.
EDIT I should also note that I have and hope to have more tattoos, in visible places such as my arms and chest. Not prison or gang tats by any means LOL but I have heard of some establishments turning people away with visible tattoos.
Thank you, and maybe you will see me out in the wild in 6-12 months?? Lol
