“Sapio” is typically defined as “to be wise” or “to have sense”. We are all classified as “homo sapiens”, so does that mean we are all wise and sensical by default? Relative to the larger animal kingdom (and rather narcissistically so), yes.

It seems to me that, as sapiosexuals, we are seeking something which is beyond the ordinary. We seek those who exemplify the “sapien”. We can sense authenticity immediately. Attempts to emulate or fake sapiosexuality plays like the old SNL segment “Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey”. Nonetheless, it can be hilarious to watch these cringeworthy attempts unfold.

But don’t worry about impressing your would-be sapio lover with big words and deep thoughts. Becoming truly wise seems to require the magical combination of experience and the ability to retain a child like perspective on reality free of the jaded dogma so often resulting from life in the “real world”.
