There are a couple common components to the sapiosexual dynamic that I have found to be important in my own personal search for self realization. I share them here for posterity, and on the off chance that it sparks a good conversation or two.

Preference Vectoring: is a sexual preference toward those with similar (or dissimilar) sapio-cognitive qualities. Sapio dynamics emerge when the preference vectors for multiple individual sapiosexuals align.

Parallel Dynamics: A preference vectored dynamic is typically the beginning of a journey , not the destination. Parallel dynamics come into play for the sapiosexual. These parallel dynamics can range from vanilla, to power dynamics, to anything else in the universe of kink, but it must be catalyzed by preference vectoring.

When we talk about sapiosexual experiences here, it is easy to miscommunicate when engaging folks with quite different Preference Vectors and Parallel Dynamics. I’ve found that understanding my sapiosexuality in this (admittedly overly analytical) way helps me to see what is and is not working in my relationships and gives me the ability to fully express myself sexually when engaging with others in the space.
