I have a day trip in São Paulo and want to ask a few questions regarding where to stay and the metro system.

Olá São Paulo people.

I have a trip your bestie Buenos Aires in November and have a layover in São Paulo for one night. This will be my 26th country and while I’m excited I am trying to be smart before I book an Airbnb or Hotel and figure out how to get to and from. I am flying into GRU, of course.

Since I have 24 hours in between I plan on visiting

Catedral da Sé de São Paulo Parque Ibirapuera Liberdade

I also plan on staying either near Republica (which seems well connected by transit) or Jardin.

My biggest concern is two things: can I take the subway during the day (around noon on the way to downtown and on the way back at 8am) and if the areas I’m staying in will be moderately safe? I am very street smart with my possessions but understand that every city has its good and bad areas.

Should I stay in another neighborhood or just take the taxi?
