Hello, obviously I’m a non local but I’m curious where are good spots to surf in Santa cruz. I’ve only surfed Capitola and want to explore other beaches in the area, but I’ve heard a lot about localism and am curious like what that actually looks like in Santa Cruz. I rent all my shit (wet suit and board) cus I live nowhere near the beach but love surfing. Are y’all mean out here? I’ve heard some stories but hoping they were old and that things have changed. I know basic surf etiquette so that alone imo should be enough to constitute me surfing with y’all, it’s not like I’m a pro and gonna hop on every single wave that comes. I barely even know how to read what waves are rideable, so like I can’t imagine I’d even be in anyones way if I’m almost never dropping in.
But I have to get better somehow. So what are some good beaches for surfing that don’t have overly defensive asshole locals at it?
