Resources for disabled/elderly in SC County?
Post Body

My partner moved here from out-of-state to be with me while I finish college, and three months ago his mother moved in so we could care for her. She has neuropathy which is causing her to lose the use of her legs and hands, as well as diabetes and vision problems. I go to school and work, and my partner works full-time, so his mom is home alone most of the time since she can’t exactly get out on her own (especially since we live a bit out of town). I feel so bad for her because I’m sure she’s lonely, on top of the chronic pain and loss of mobility she deals with from the neuropathy. She’s a wonderful, funny, kind person who I really love, and I hate seeing her suffer. We try to get her out and do things together to make her life enjoyable, but some days it’s not enough.

So, does anyone know of local programs for limited mobility and older people? She’s in her early 50s so she’s not really “elderly”. She’s Guatemalan and a native Spanish speaker, so it would be great if she could meet with others who share her language and culture, perhaps in Watsonville. She loves fashion, baking, and interior design if that helps!
