I live a couple blocks from San Lorenzo Park, and in the last couple of weeks, I've noticed a definite uptick in the local "color". That is, homeless, junkies, tweakers, drunks and lunatics.
I walked past the park today to see around 50 homeless camps, probably 70-100 people in varying states of intoxication and sanity, screeching at each other and clawing in the grass for worms and Vicodin. The levee, Pacific Avenue, and the post office are completely surrounded by these zombies as well. Ive lived in the same place for 12 years, and this the worst Ive seen.
I am made of questions: is anyone else seeing this in other parts of town? Where did these people come from? Have all law enforcement agencies simply surrendered the town to them? Has anyone organized an evacuation?
Jokes aside, what is going on, and what is the city doing about it? Too many public spaces are now unsafe and unusable for families and the people who actually live here.
